Today seems to have the usual Monday racing fare with two meetings this afternoon and two tonight. As I look out of my window it is throwing it down and according to the weather report this is the same for most of the country. Even so both Hamilton and Carlisle are currently giving the running as Good to Form.
I suspect that as the day goes on conditions will worsen and this will give horses who like a bit of give in the ground an opportunity to shine. Also looking at the cards I do not think today will be a good favourite’s day so it may be the layers who profit.

Today I thought I would pass on to you three simple systems that I have got out of my files. Needless to say you should paper test any of these systems before risking any of your money.
First we have the Quick Appearance
The rules are simple
1. Look for any horse that had its last run within 1 or 2 days.
2. It must have won or been placed in last race.
3. Must be top Racing Post Rating (RPR)
4. Selecetion must be evens or higher.
5. Does not produce a great number of selections but has a good
success rate.
The next system is Fair Maiden
1. 5 or 6 furlong maiden races only
2. Maximum of 10 runners
3. Must have finished 2nd or 3rd in last race
4. Must have run within the last 14 days.
5. If there is more than 1 selection eliminate the race

Yesterday the two 100-1 winners were not the only surprises. Our selection Aquarious Star ran out the winner at 8/1 which meant that
if you had used our recommended in running option you would have lost 6.9 points on th day. However we should with luck still be showing a profit at the end of this month.

The big talking point at York yesterday was the refusal of Sariska to race in the Yorkshire Oaks. As the rest of the field streamed away the 85-40 remained firmly planted in the stalls. The amount of money lost by punters must have been considerable and after the race there were those who felt the rules should be changed.
Their argument was that as the horse never left the stalls it should be classed as a non runner. However, the rules are plain once a horse has entered the stalls he is considered to have come under orders. Whilst I sympathise with those who lost their money on Sariska it would hardly seem fair that the backers of the winner Midday should have to suffer a hefty rule 4 deduction.
